Position Overview

At Zillow Home Loans, we’re revolutionizing the home financing experience as part of a dynamic, fast-growing FinTech company. In the role of Mortgage Loan Officer based in California (CA), you will originate mortgage loans, guide borrowers through the loan process, and drive funded loan volume while achieving production sales targets through proactive customer and agent engagement. This role involves handling incoming leads, generating self-sourced leads through strong partner relationships, and providing outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Originate mortgage loans by guiding borrowers through the process, ensuring compliance, and completing required documentation.
  • Achieve production targets by engaging with customers and agents while managing a robust book of business.
  • Handle incoming leads from various sources and generate self-sourced leads through strong partner relationships.
  • Promptly contact borrowers, follow up after discovery calls, and assess financing readiness to provide personalized support.
  • Manage multiple leads and loans within Service Level Agreements, ensuring timely follow-up and efficient processing via phone, email, and text.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers, agents, and partners to encourage repeat business.
  • Stay informed on market trends and conduct in-market visits to drive Zillow Home Loans’ involvement.
  • Ensure all transactions adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and company guidelines.
  • Maintain active licensing, complete required education/training, and stay current on regulatory changes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ years of mortgage origination experience as an active NMLS Loan Originator with required licenses, or experience as a Loan Originator under a bank license.
  • Physically located in and working from California (CA).
  • Successfully completed the 20-hr SAFE Pre-licensing Education and passed the SAFE Mortgage Loan Originator Test - National Component.
  • Proven track record in handling purchase loans and collaborating with real estate agents.
  • Strong client service skills with deep mortgage process knowledge.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Willingness to travel, including in-market visits (minimum 5% travel required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Compensation: In addition to a competitive base pay plus incentive compensation, the base pay range for eligible states (CA, CO, CT, HI, IL, MD, MN, NV, NY, WA, and Washington DC) is$12.00 - $25.00 Hourly. Actual amounts vary based on experience, performance, and location.
