Job Description
Position Overview
IT@JH Networking, Telecom, & Data Center is seeking an Associate Network Technician. Under guidance, you will diagnose and troubleshoot basic network, device, and data communications problems; install and replace network hardware, software, and cabling; perform and verify basic switch configuration tasks; and participate in technical discussions for infrastructure enhancements. You will also install, maintain, and support the organizations’ network service provision suite across Data Center, workstation, wireless, videoconference, audio visual, and satellite TV systems while interfacing with customers to understand and articulate their needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist IT professionals responsible for the network of Johns Hopkins Medicine and Johns Hopkins University.
- Provide customer support for a variety of network-related issues.
- Learn network monitoring techniques.
- Perform Data Center equipment installations/de-installations and network fleet replacement.
- Conduct IT equipment service provision surveys and provision network services based on survey results.
- Troubleshoot wired and wireless connections, and install/upgrade network switches and wireless access points.
- Work 100% onsite at Mount Washington Campus, Monday through Friday, day shift.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or current high school student.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience beyond a high school diploma, as permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of sophomore year of high school with some coursework in IT or IT Networking.
- Basic knowledge of IP/MAC Addresses and DHCP.
- Prior computer experience.
- Technical hands-on training with devices, network, and/or wireless technologies.

- Compensation: Starting Salary Range: $15.00 - $19.20 HRLY (commensurate with experience)
