Job Description
Position Overview
Become a part of our caring community and help us put health first. As a Medical Assistant you will perform clinical duties including discussing symptoms, obtaining vital signs, medication/vaccine administration, phlebotomy, specimen collection, diagnostic screening tests, equipment cleaning, room maintenance, and electronic documentation. You will collaborate closely with Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers while delivering direct patient care based on your active certification. This full-time role (40 hours, M–F, 8a–5p) is patient facing at our Conviva care clinic located at 10435 Vista Del Sol, El Paso, TX 79925 and is part of Humana’s TB screening program (TB screening required).
Key Responsibilities
- Perform clinical duties such as discussing symptoms, obtaining vital signs, medication/vaccine administration, and phlebotomy.
- Collect specimens, perform diagnostic screening tests, and maintain examination rooms.
- Document patient information into the electronic medical records system.
- Collaborate with Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers to deliver appropriate patient care.
- Utilize discretion and judgment to prioritize requests, contribute to process improvement, and mentor other Medical Assistants.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant school/training program or Certified/Registered Medical Assistant qualification; alternatively 5+ years of experience with provider approval.
- Current CPR certification.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (must pass proficiency exam).
- Willingness to work at the Conviva care clinic (10435 Vista Del Sol, El Paso, TX 79925).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (with additional state-specific certification requirements for Arizona, Indiana, & South Carolina).
- Hands-on professional phlebotomy experience and medication/vaccine administration experience.
- At least 1+ years of MA experience with exposure to Value Based Care (knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience).
