Job Description
Position Overview
Verily, a subsidiary of Alphabet, is using a data‐driven approach to change the way people manage their health and the way healthcare is delivered. Launched from Google X in 2015, our mission is to bring the promise of precision health to everyone, every day. We are seeking a talented and passionate Senior UX Designer to join our Platform UX team—a highly collaborative group of designers, researchers, content strategists, illustrators, and accessibility specialists. In this role, you will drive the end-to-end design process for innovative health and clinical research solutions, distilling complex challenges into intuitive and impactful interfaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the user experience for one or more product areas, including designing interactions and interfaces, and planning/organizing the work of a small team of UX professionals.
- Collaborate with product managers, UX researchers, content strategists, and other domain experts to understand needs, influence product priorities, set design strategy, and rapidly iterate solutions.
- Work closely with our engineering team to ensure effective implementation of designs, and partner with them to overcome technical challenges.
- Grow our UX team culture through mentorship, contributing to our design system, participating in design critiques, and supporting cross-team initiatives while championing user advocacy.
Required Qualifications
- An outstanding portfolio showcasing thoughtfully designed products with a clear end-to-end design process—from establishing strong UX strategy to refining the smallest details with clear rationale.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in UX Design, HCI, Interaction Design, or a related field with 8+ years of professional UX Design experience in enterprise software, consumer products, medical devices, or other relevant areas.
- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and collaboration skills with the ability to convey complex concepts effectively across diverse audiences.
- Fluency with industry-standard design tools and practices, including Figma, and a strong grasp of designing accessible, responsive web applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S., M.A., M.F.A., or other advanced degree in a relevant field.
- Experience leading or managing UX design teams.
- Prior work on enterprise products, AI, data platforms, healthcare, medical services, or other relevant areas.
- Expertise in interactive prototyping tools, including emerging methods and platforms such as Figma Make, Replit, or Cursor.
Benefits & Perks
- Compensation: The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,500-$250,000, plus bonus and additional benefits (the exact figure depends on work location, skills, experience, and relevant education or training).
- Benefits: Competitive benefits, flexible working conditions, and resources that support whole-person well being, along with a dynamic culture that values inclusion, collaboration, and growth.
