Job Description

Position Overview

Sentara is hiring an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician at Virginia Beach General Hospital. This full time position (40 hrs/wk) offers a rotating shift schedule with operating hours from 6am to 11pm (with occasional overnight coverage), every other weekend work, and holiday rotation. $5,000 Sign on Bonus for Qualified Candidates!

The role involves performing care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner while ensuring quality patient care throughout the hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
  • Fill and deliver medications under proper supervision.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
  • Triage and escalate questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed.
  • Utilize appropriate systems for processing patient information.
  • Maintain quality assurance in accordance with departmental and legal requirements.
  • Operate pharmacy equipment appropriately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
  • Valid pharmacy technician license in the state of practice

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB)
  • 2 Years Pharmacy Experience
