Position Overview

At The Home Depot, Home Improvement Sales Associates are key in providing fast, friendly support by connecting with shoppers, understanding their needs, and delivering effective solutions. They help fulfill the company’s mission by guiding customers through their projects while keeping the store safe, clean, and easy to navigate.

In this role, you will gain product knowledge, assist customers from initial greeting through purchase, and recommend suitable solutions while maintaining a well-stocked, organized, and safe department.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with customers proactively to understand their needs and provide support.
• Learn about products using company tools to give accurate information.
• Assist customers in completing projects by greeting, qualifying, recommending, and closing sales in your department.
• Keep shelves stocked and ensure your area is clean, safe, and ready for shopping.
• Support nearby departments with basic tasks when needed.
• Follow safety procedures to maintain a secure work and shopping environment.
• Complete safety training and promptly report or address unsafe conditions.
• Collaborate effectively with Department Supervisors, team members, and other associates throughout the store.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in retail sales or customer service.
• Familiarity with home improvement categories such as Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, or Tool Rental.
• Experience in specialized sales roles such as Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, or Customer Order Specialist.
