Scenic Technical Designer / Drafter

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Drafter to join our team. As a Drafter, you will be responsible for creating technical drawings and plans using Fusion 360 software. Your attention to detail and ability to interpret specifications will be crucial in ensuring accurate and precise drawings. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with mechanical knowledge and a passion for drafting to contribute to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed technical drawings and plans based on specifications provided by engineers or architects
• Utilize CAD software to develop 2D and 3D models of mechanical components, systems, or structures
• Collaborate with engineers and other team members to review and revise drawings as necessary
• Conduct research and gather information to support the drafting process
• Perform calculations and analysis related to system design, assembly, or structural integrity
• Assist in the preparation of technical reports, documentation, and presentations
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations throughout the drafting process

Required Qualifications

• 3-5 years of recent SolidWorks experience working with Weldments, developing SolidWorks Bill of Materials, developing large assemblies, and working in a team/project environment
• Knowledgeable of several wood species, sheet metal, weldments, welding, custom finishes, and staining processes
• Experience designing metal structures such as roofs systems, overhangs, or statement pieces
• Experience with designing environments such as store interiors, brand activations, break rooms, and convention space transformation

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-2 years of recent experience with SolidWorks PDM
• Experience with electrical requirements for designs that require power
• Must be able to lead and provide comprehensive directions in team settings
• Using Fusion 360 to create client and build drawings for live events
• +1 year experience with Autodesk Fusion drafting software
• Working knowledge of drafting software (AutoCAD, Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite, Solidworks, Vectorworks, Fusion360)
• Organized, detail-oriented, and team-focused
• Able to adapt to constant change
• Experience in structural engineering, fabrication processes, etc. is a plus
• Experience in the live production field (theater, concert/stage design, set design, etc.) if applicable
