Entry Level Software Engineer

Position Overview

Join our Long Island team at BAE Systems in Greenlawn, NY, where you will help protect those who protect us by developing next generation electronic systems products and solutions. As an Entry Level Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and test high-quality, real-time embedded software for fielded electronics platforms while collaborating with Systems, Hardware, and Test Engineers throughout all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle. Location: Greenlawn, NY; Schedule: Hybrid (onsite and remote, 9/80 work schedule); Salary: $69439 - $118047

Key Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality, real-time embedded software for fielded electronics platforms.
• Collaborate with Systems, Hardware, and Test Engineers across all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle.
• Contribute to the creation of next generation electronic systems products and solutions.
• Adapt to a hybrid work environment that balances onsite and remote work.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Requirements: Strong problem-solving skills that translate to maintainable software.
• Able to obtain a Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in a high-level programming language such as Java, C++, C, or Python.
• Coursework or experience in embedded software development.
• Experience with software tools like Jira, BitBucket, debuggers, and container technologies.
• Experience with Agile Development and DevSecOps practices.
• Experience developing on Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Experience using Git or another version control system.
• Familiarity with unit testing frameworks.
• An active Secret Clearance is a plus.
