As Division Engineer, you will oversee the safety and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) compliance of critical railroad infrastructure—including tracks, bridges, and buildings—across a dynamic territory spanning from Kansas City, MO to Shreveport, LA and from Kansas City to East St. Louis, MO. In this pivotal role, you will manage a team of 5-6 Roadmasters, ensuring that engineering and maintenance standards are consistently met and exceeded.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement accurate job procedures to promote safe work practices
  • Collaborate with Purchasing to develop contracts for track repair and monitor budgets
  • Administer the safety action plan for the Track department
  • Develop and complete annual safety plans
  • Solicit quotes from equipment and material suppliers to ensure the best price and availability
  • Provide customer service focus and prioritization to meet partner expectations
  • Utilize relevant business metrics to foster operational efficiency and build high-performing teams
  • Conduct one-on-one accountability conversations when rules or policies are violated
  • Investigate train accidents on the main track and sidings, ensuring timely reporting and adherence to regulations
  • Ensure infrastructure damage costs are accurately reported in compliance with regulations for all train accidents

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general equivalency (Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution strongly preferred)
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive railroad industry experience, including success in leading and managing complex, outcome-driven projects or programs
  • At least 5 years of managerial or supervisory experience
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Thorough understanding of railway track safety regulations and industry standards
  • Experience in interpreting and applying the Maintenance of Way Employees Division (MWED) collective bargaining agreement to daily operations
  • Ability to provide emergency response support as part of an on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 operational continuity
