Position Overview

As part of this mission, you will help deliver PATIENT CARE SECOND TO NONE! In this role, you will plan, organize, monitor, and carry out Antimicrobial Management and Stewardship programs to optimize clinical outcomes, promote cost‐effective therapy, and improve patient care while minimizing unintended effects. You will integrate these programs with patient safety and quality initiatives in accordance with guidelines from Medicare, the Joint Commission, and other agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance and dissemination of drug information pertaining to infectious diseases, including in-service education, consultations, and conferences.
- Exercising professional judgment in providing therapeutic guidance and drug information to pharmacy, medical, and nursing staff.
- Demonstrating competence in treatment for diverse patient populations (adult, pediatric, geriatric, adolescent, and psychiatric).
- Inspecting pharmacy records to ensure drug therapy is appropriate and safe.
- Performing pharmacokinetics analyses, IV-to-PO conversions, therapeutic interchanges, and other clinical pharmacy functions accurately and promptly.
- Assisting in developing and maintaining reports for pharmacy management and antimicrobial stewardship, including utilization trends, length of stay, antibiogram & resistance trends, and core measure data.
- Serving as a consultant to the Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee and other clinical performance improvement committees.
- Engaging in clinical rounding, public speaking, and presenting technical and financial data.
- Participating in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of clinical pathways in infectious disease management.
- Collaborating with pharmacy, infection control, information systems, and infectious disease medical staff to implement the antimicrobial management program.
- Evaluating and upholding quality initiatives as required by accrediting organizations.
- Reporting daily to the Clinical Pharmacy Manager on overall operations, projects, and expectations.
- Working rotating shifts (AM & PM).
Required Qualifications
- Education & Certification: Pharm.D. or equivalent from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a current pharmacist license in good standing. Residency in an ASHP-accredited program and/or Infectious Disease Fellowship is recommended, along with advanced Infectious Disease certification in Antimicrobial Stewardship.
- Knowledge: Thorough understanding of state and federal laws governing pharmacy services, plus proven proficiency in applying new medications and technology.
- Communication & Analytical Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Interpersonal & Organizational Abilities: Ability to work independently, manage stress, multitask, prioritize effectively, and collaborate within an interdisciplinary team.
