Job Description
The Quality Control Technician will monitor plant processing operations and programs relating to food safety, HACCP, and regulatory compliance. This role will perform a variety of technical inspections and testing to detect processing, manufacturing, or other defects, and ensure that all products meet our stringent quality and food safety standards.
- Payrate: $19-$21/hr. based on experience
- Schedule: Monday- Friday (some Saturdays if needed)
- Hours: 6:00 PM-6:00 AM (10-12 hrs shifts)
- Training: during 1st shift (6am-6pm)
- Employment type: Temp to Hire
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform quality inspections of products before public release to ensure they meet food safety regulations and internal standards.
- Operate under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and be familiar with the HACCP system.
- Observe and report all food product deficiencies promptly.
- Participate in plant audits and third-party audits as required.
- Conduct manual and automated quality testing, analyzing and recording related results.
- Inspect production equipment and machinery to ensure efficient operation.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth production processes.
- Inspect raw materials to ensure they meet specifications for shape, size, and quality.
- Enforce BRC, HACCP, SOPs, and product specifications.
- Test finished products and raw materials for compliance with industry standards.
- Manage point-step process review, label and material review, QA documentation control, line clearing, and process deviations.
- Work within a team to achieve departmental goals and maintain production quality.
- Collect accurate product data samples for analysis.
- Conduct data analysis and prepare reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications:
- 2 years experience, must be in food manufacturing or a similar industry
- Proficiency with all MS Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Experience in enforcing SOPs and product specifications.
- Ability to adapt effectively to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and Spanish.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively to maintain safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks related to food safety and regulatory compliance.
- Leadership qualities, with the ability to interact with management and staff.
- Strong mathematics and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with Preventative Controls and demonstrating qualified individual responsibilities.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, continuously changing environment.
- Follow standardized work practices and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for prolonged periods, and climb stairs as needed.
- Exposure to elevated equipment noise, requiring the use of hearing protection.
- Seasonal temperature fluctuations may be expected.
- Must wear and use all protective and safety equipment as directed by the company.
