Job Description

Position Overview

Join the City of North Las Vegas as an Engineering Associate (Utilities) and play a vital role in reviewing and evaluating water and sewer design plans for residential, commercial, and industrial development projects. Reporting to a Senior Engineer, you will ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations while providing technical guidance on public infrastructure such as utility systems and storm-water facilities. This role is key to contributing to the growth and success of one of the largest culturally diverse cities in the nation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate water and sewer design plans for various development projects.
  • Ensure design plans meet all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance on public infrastructure, including utility systems and storm-water facilities.
  • Manage multiple project reviews, calculate connection charges and fees, and coordinate inspection and bonding requirements.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by assisting developers, engineers, and the public with technical inquiries.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Two or more years of progressively complex and responsible work experience in a related field.
  • Must possess a valid Nevada state driver’s license, or have the ability to obtain one.
  • Possession of a State of Nevada Registered Engineer Certificate or registration in Nevada within one year if licensed in another state.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer certification (Traffic Option Only).

Benefits & Perks

  • Compensation: Grade TEX-22 with a salary range of $78,928.75 – $118,396.24; Minimum Salary: $85,029.94 and Maximum Salary: $121,474.55 on a BIWEEKLY pay basis. Starting salary is determined by education, qualifications, and experience.
  • Schedule: 4 days per week, 9 hours per day (Monday through Thursday, 7:00am to 5:00pm).
