Job Description

Position Overview

As a seasonal Operations Technical Specialist at H&R Block, you will play a key role in supporting office readiness across our tax office network. You will be responsible for executing hands-on operational and technical tasks including basic technology setup, supply delivery, routine maintenance, and support for office openings, closures, and relocations. Working closely with field leadership, you will ensure that offices meet brand standards and are equipped for a successful tax season.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform basic building maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, replacing ceiling tiles, cleaning HVAC vents, conducting minor low-voltage electrical work, and repairing minor damages.
  • Deliver supplies and materials to and from tax office locations in a timely and organized manner.
  • Support the annual setup and closing of seasonal tax offices by installing window clings, electrical lightboxes, and open signs; ensuring office cleanliness and overall brand compliance.
  • Set up, shut down, and provide ongoing support for PC hardware across multiple office locations with guidance from the District Operations Coordinator and Operations Technology Analyst.
  • Maintain an inventory of district resources and track/control hot spare computer equipment.
  • Document hardware problems and their resolution within the ticketing system.
  • Keep technical knowledge up-to-date regarding the department's supported products and systems.
  • Participate in all required training relevant to the position and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift items up to 55 lbs
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Basic IT knowledge with demonstrated ability to set up, maintain, and troubleshoot computer hardware
  • Strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and project coordination skills
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills for interaction with all levels of associates
  • Proven time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Familiarity with Outlook and Microsoft Suite applications, including virtual tools
  • Reliable transportation to travel between office locations as required
