Job Description

Position Overview

Fyve By is a startup building advanced perception systems for airports using LiDAR and camera sensors to track aircraft and other objects in real-time. Our product is deploying nationwide, and we are looking for talented engineers to help us scale. SkyView is Fyve By’s core product and the foundation of our perception and safety platform. In this role, you will lead the technical direction of SkyView—owning system architecture, driving long-term reliability, and scaling our software across real-world deployments nationwide. As the platform matures, it opens the door to applications including advanced safety systems, autonomous ground operations, and robotics use cases across and beyond aviation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the technical architecture and all major engineering decisions for SkyView—from system design through field deployment.
  • Refactor and harden the existing codebase into a production-grade platform that scales reliably across dozens of sites.
  • Research, design, and implement AI/ML algorithms for LiDAR-based object detection, collision prediction, and aircraft tracking.
  • Optimize real-time data transfer and processing pipelines for multiple concurrent LiDAR and camera streams.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD infrastructure, automated testing, and deployment tooling.
  • Assess and manage technical risk across development and deployment, making tradeoff recommendations that balance speed with reliability.
  • Provide strategic input on the software roadmap, including early-stage technical planning for future autonomous towing systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers and establish engineering standards, code review practices, and a strong testing culture.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in robotics software development.
  • Deep ROS2 expertise (nodes, DDS, lifecycle management, real-time pipelines).
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and Python.
  • Experience with AWS or similar cloud services for communication and data processing.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including hardware and manufacturing.
  • Experience training and deploying AI/ML algorithms for robotic systems.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building perception or autonomy systems at scale.
  • Background in aviation, aerospace, or outdoor industrial environments.
  • Experience with self-driving vehicles, AMRs, AGVs, or similar autonomous platforms.
  • Familiarity with computer vision pipelines and hardware acceleration (CUDA, OpenCV, GStreamer) is a plus.

Benefits & Perks

  • Compensation: $150k - $200k, Benefits: equity options, unlimited PTO

Location: We're based in Atlanta and offer hybrid and remote options. We prefer candidates located in or near the Atlanta area, as occasional travel to hangar sites and in-person collaboration will be part of the role.
