About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Industrial Engineer to spearhead manufacturing optimization efforts within their state-of-the-art facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, US. This critical role involves analyzing existing production processes, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing innovative engineering solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of manufacturing principles, lean methodologies, and advanced analytical techniques.

Your Responsibilities

  • Analyze manufacturing processes, identify inefficiencies, and develop data-driven solutions for improvement.
  • Design and implement optimized production layouts, workflows, and material handling systems.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing principles (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Conduct time and motion studies to improve operational productivity and resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with production teams, quality control, and R&D to implement engineering changes.
  • Evaluate new technologies and equipment to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
  • Perform capacity planning and forecasting to ensure efficient resource allocation.
  • Develop and manage project plans for engineering initiatives, ensuring on-time and within-budget completion.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, root causes of problems, and opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Ensure all engineering designs and processes comply with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
  • Support the implementation of automation and advanced manufacturing techniques.
  • Develop and present technical reports and recommendations to management.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree: in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience: in process optimization, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and statistical analysis skills.
  • Proficiency: in CAD software and simulation tools (e.g., Arena, AnyLogic).
  • Understanding: Excellent understanding of manufacturing principles, production planning, and quality control.
  • Project management: Strong project management skills.
  • Communication: Effective communication, leadership, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Work settings: Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting, balancing remote analysis with on-site observations and implementation.
  • Location: Must be able to work from or commute to our facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, US.
  • Experience with: Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus).
