Test Engineer

Title: Autonomy Test Specialist

Pay Rate: $60/hr+ DOE

Location: Miami, FL onsite / at least 3 days in office

Type: Assignment 6+ Months with possibility of extension

About the Role

Our client's Motion Planning team is scaling their Pick Up/Drop Off (PUDO) and Depot Site enablement capabilities and expanding to new operational domains. In this contract role, you'll work alongside their Motion Planning engineers to accelerate their development, testing, and validation workflows. You'll own the creation of simulation scenarios, manage vehicle testing, and serve as the first line of triage for test results. This is a unique opportunity to contribute directly to autonomous vehicle development while building your robotics expertise on the job.

They're looking for someone who is organized, technically curious, and excited to learn. You'll gain hands-on exposure to their simulation infrastructure, on-vehicle testing processes, and the real-world challenges of deploying autonomous vehicles.

What you will be doing:

• Create and specify simulation scenes for PUDO and Depot site scenarios, translating operational requirements into testable configurations.
• Develop and maintain vehicle test plans, supporting on and off site ensuring comprehensive coverage of new site enablement features.
• Manage test scheduling and coordination, working with vehicle operations to maximize testing efficiency.
• Perform first-pass triage of simulation and vehicle test results, identifying issues and categorizing them for engineering review and solution development.
• Document test findings and identify opportunities to streamline processes and create reports that help autonomy engineers quickly understand test outcomes.

About You

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
• Ability and willingness to travel for test support
• Familiarity with scripting languages (Python preferred) for automation and data analysis
• Strong organizational skills with experience managing schedules or coordinating technical workflows
• Ability to learn new tools and systems quickly
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings and collaborating with engineer

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with simulation environments or game engines
• Exposure to robotics, automotive, or autonomous systems
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and issue tracking systems (JIRA or similar)
• Experience with test engineering, QA, or validation processes
• Understanding of basic vehicle dynamics or motion planning concepts
