Position Overview

Shift/Schedule: Full Time Days, Thursday - Wednesday 7on/7off (0400-1430)

Location: BSW-Frisco at PGA Laboratory, Baylor Scott and White Medical Center Frisco at PGA Parkway

Our new facility, spanning 340,000 square feet, will introduce a state-of-the-art environment tailored to accommodate the evolving needs of our rapidly growing population with crucial departments including emergency, inpatient, procedural, and women and children.

Job Summary: The Lab Tech 2 receives and/or processes specimens, performs clerical checks and support functions. May perform phlebotomy.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducts routine laboratory procedures where the range of possible errors is limited.
• Sorts, labels and records patient specimens. Sets up specimen, material and equipment in preparation for Medical Technologist to perform test.
• Operates centrifuge, simplex timers, cell washer and other laboratory equipment in completing assigned duties.
• Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies.
• Maintains effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
• Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.

Required Qualifications

• Phlebotomy skill for all age groups.
• Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions.
• Skill in the use of computers and related software applications.
• Knowledge of safety and infection control standards.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent.
• EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience.
