Position Overview
Critical Power Technician reporting to Service Manager in the Service Department at Central Power Systems & Services. Our mission is forging long-lasting partnerships by providing first-class customer support. In this role, you will service all brands of emergency standby generators, automatic transfer switches, switchgear, and related accessories. The normal working shift is 7AM to 4PM with the expectation of overtime when needed, including rotating after-hours on-call duties once field competence is demonstrated. Candidates should be eager to grow their skills while working in various settings, including off-site locations and mining operations, where physical demands require adaptability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of critical power systems installation, start-up, and commissioning.
- Perform diagnostic and repair procedures on systems including PLCs, AC/DC, and switchgear.
- Conduct scheduled maintenance on electric power generation equipment including gas and diesel engines, generators, and transfer switches.
- Coordinate with electrical contractors during installations and commissioning corrections.
- Test and troubleshoot various generator sizes.
- Work off-site, including with mining companies, as part of field service responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Flexibility and willingness to be on-call and work overtime when needed.
- Willingness and ability to travel overnight.
- 2 years’ experience with higher voltage generator maintenance (CAT, Kohler, Cummins equipment).
- Electrical and mechanical knowledge of diesel-powered generators.
- Strong diagnostic skills.
- 3+ years’ experience in generator maintenance.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduation from a technical school preferred.
- AAS Electrical Power Generator Technician certification is a Plus.
- Military experience is a Plus.
