Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree and 10+ years of relevant experience; OR bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of of relevant experience; OR a master's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience. Additional four (4) years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility. Contract requires TS/SCI. The candidate must maintain the clearance.
  • Demonstrable experience using AWS; experience in AWS GovCloud preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience using declarative infrastructure as code development and deployment such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
  • Experience using Kubernetes and management of Docker containers.
  • Experience of using GitLab for CI/CD.
  • Strong scripting experience with Python.
  • Experience using REST API’s.
  • Experience working in teams using Agile methodologies including Scrum or Kanban.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of version control and using Git.
  • Solid understanding of continuous integration concepts.
  • Ability to produce concise and clear technical documentation.

Job Overview:

Peraton is seeking a DevOps Platform Engineer (AWS) to become a valued member of a dynamic and collaborative team of Platform Engineers, dedicated to supporting and enhancing application development efforts for our United States Space Force customer on the SWAFS program.

The DevOps Platform Engineer will build and operate the cloud and automation platforms that enable developers to securely self-serve infrastructure, ship software faster, and run reliable, scalable applications through CI/CD, IaC, and cloud-native tooling.

The successful candidate will have a strong working background in developing and operating cloud-based infrastructure for Government clients. They will also have experience deploying and debugging, systems administration, container management and orchestration, scripting & automation skills and fundamental understanding of DevSecOps concepts.

The candidate must be located in Colorado Springs, CO. The candidate will be required to be in the office several days a week; however, schedules are flexible and some remote work is possible.

What you’ll do:

The DevOps Platform Engineer will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

  • Build, and operate the internal cloud platform (CI/CD, IaC, Kubernetes, and automation) that enables secure self-service infrastructure for developers.
  • Improve developer velocity and reliability by standardizing pipelines, guardrails, monitoring, and release workflows.
  • Ensure platform security, scalability, and cost efficiency across environments through automation, observability, and continuous optimization.
