Position Overview
Bell Hospital, Indian Creek Main is seeking a Medical Assistant - All Ambulatory Clinics. The Medical Assistant is responsible for ensuring efficient flow of patients throughout the healthcare setting by facilitating examinations and treatments in a culturally sensitive manner with exceptional customer service. The role includes preparing patients for visits, performing limited procedures, scheduling diagnostic tests or consults, maintaining patient records, organizing clinic/exam rooms, managing supply/equipment inventory, and assisting physicians and interdisciplinary team members.
Clinics with multiple locations available include: Internal Medicine Clinics, Cardiology/Advanced Heart Failure (St. Joe positions available), Urgent Cares, Transplant, Neurology, Urology, Spine Center, Reproductive Medicine, ENT, OB/GYN, and Alzheimer's & Memory.

Key Responsibilities
- Accurately schedules tests; obtains films and reports; and prepares laboratory specimens according to policy.
- Assists physicians and/or nurses with special procedures and examinations as defined on the competency checklist.
- Collaborates with the healthcare team in coordinating and implementing plans for patient care, including recording elements of the patient history for clinical review.
- Electronically submits, calls, or faxes prescriptions and refills to outpatient pharmacies.
- Ensures data for completed procedures is recorded on appropriate forms and in medical records.
- Maintains medical records by ensuring required documentation, distributing reports, filing, photocopying, and processing forms related to medical charts.
- Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of examination rooms; stocks assigned areas to maintain par levels of supplies and completes required logs and equipment checks.
- Performs clerical duties such as greeting patients, registration, scheduling, pre-certification of tests/procedures/medications, processing insurance forms, preparing financial records, answering phones, and entering ambulatory care charges.
- Performs simple procedures as directed by the nurse or physician per the competency checklist.
- Measures vital signs, height, weight, and conducts screening procedures, documenting all information in the medical record.
- Meets professional, clinical, and technical competencies required for the assigned unit or department.

Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or at least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant, or holding CCMA or NCRMA certification.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required within 14 days.
- Basic typing and word processing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) via the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or NCRMA.
