Job Description
Position Overview
The Electrical Engineering Professional Senior role is for a seasoned Electrical Engineer responsible for overseeing the engineering and design of medium and low voltage power distribution systems – including UPS/Generators, Lighting, Grounding, Fire Alarm, Security, Public Address (PA), Telecomm and Heat Trace systems. In this position you will prepare technical specifications and construction documents, lead the Electrical discipline, and act as a Quality Control reviewer in project meetings. PE strongly desired or ability to obtain within a year. The interview process begins with an initial Teams interview with an in-person follow-up if necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering and design oversight for medium and low voltage power distribution, UPS/Generators, Lighting, Grounding, Fire Alarm, Security, Public Address (PA), Telecomm and Heat Trace systems.
- Evaluate system goals and develop, design, or select the required equipment or power/controls to achieve those goals.
- Perform calculations and evaluations in the design of equipment and systems for industrial applications.
- Direct construction, installation, and operational testing to ensure conformance with functional specifications, recognized codes and standards, and customer requirements.
- Maintain effective communication with project team members and customers.
- Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software to perform engineering tasks.
- Prepare technical specifications and documents for bidding and construction, and serve as the Electrical discipline lead or Quality Control reviewer during project meetings.
- Participate in project proposals and suggest innovative solutions for clients.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
- Professional Engineer license in IN or ability to obtain.
- At least 15 years of experience in electrical engineering design of buildings.
- Solid working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC).
- Ability to perform power system studies including short circuit, load flow, protective coordination, and arc flash.
- Proven leadership skills and ability to guide less experienced staff members.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a creative approach to challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in electrical design for Life Science and/or advanced manufacturing facilities.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM software.
- Familiarity with power system studies software (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower).
- Forward-thinking with eagerness to learn best practices and contribute innovative ideas.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and expand technical knowledge.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
- A genuine passion for buildings and construction.
