Join our mission as our next Field Engineer I in Location: El Paso, TX. This field‐based position covers the El Paso area and Southern New Mexico, offering a company car, gas card, cell phone, and laptop—with all vehicle maintenance covered by QuidelOrtho.

In this role, you will work directly with customers in hospital and clinic laboratory environments, ensuring reliable installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of electromechanical equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify electromechanical equipment, preferably in the field.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems and system issues to determine effective solutions per product and customer specifications.
  • Conduct technical analysis on product implementations, modifications, and enhancements based on specific customer needs.
  • Assess customer needs and recommend solutions in line with product and customer specifications.
  • Provide technical training and product briefings to customers, vendors, and company representatives.
  • Serve as the local on-site representative for customers and manage all territory-related responsibilities, including preventive maintenance and software/hardware upgrades.
  • Support service operations in hospital/clinic laboratory settings, including parts management, online training, and administrative reporting.
  • Perform additional work-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum of an Associate's degree in Electronics or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent (including 4 years of military/field service experience).
  • Experience Required: At least 4 years of experience installing, operating, maintaining, repairing, and modifying electromechanical equipment, preferably in a field environment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to travel overnight up to 75% (initially 50-75% overnight travel to Rochester, NY during training, then up to 75% thereafter).
  • Must meet customer credentialing requirements, including up-to-date immunizations.
  • Excellent organizational, communication (both verbal and written), and technical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the healthcare or medical device industry.

  • Salary: $65,000 to $85,000 (bonus eligible).
