Entry Level Engineer

Position Overview:

Platypus Marine is seeking a motivated Entry to Mid-Level Engineer to join our growing team. This role supports a wide range of vessel repair, maintenance, and modernization projects for commercial and government clients. The ideal candidate will bring a strong engineering foundation and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assists in the development of repair, maintenance, and work packages for marine vessels
• Support engineering design and layout for systems including piping, pumps, and valves
• Contribute to troubleshooting and analysis of diesel and electric systems
• Prepare technical documentation, reports, and work instructions
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, and production teams to execute projects
• Support system engineering efforts across mechanical, electrical, and marine systems
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and contract requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Naval, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Entry level to ~5 years of relevant experience
• Basic understanding of marine, shipyard, or industrial environments preferred
• Familiarity with pumps, valves, piping systems, and system layouts
• Exposure to diesel and/or electrical systems is a plus
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Wage is dependent upon experience.

Preferred Experience (Not Required):

• Shipyard or vessel repair experience
• Government or defense-related project exposure
• Experience developing work packages or technical repair plans

$65,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
