About UpSpring
UpSpring is a Cincinnati-based nonprofit that provides educational and enrichment programming, resources, and other specialized services to thousands of children experiencing homelessness each year in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
Position Overview
The Development & Marketing Director is responsible for all the organization’s development and marketing activities and assists with operations tasks, as needed. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop and lead individual donor engagement efforts, including two annual fund campaigns.
- Manage donor solicitation, recognition, and stewardship efforts, including donor database.
- Research grant opportunities, facilitate relationships with grantors, complete and submit grant applications and reports within grantor deadlines.
- Plan and coordinate UpSpring fundraising events, including the annual UpSpring Benefit Bash.
- Serve as main contact and liaison between organization and foundations, corporations, donors, and other supporters.
- Responsible for external communications, including email, mailings, website, monthly e-newsletter, Annual Report, Program Impact Reports, and other communications.
- Lead social media efforts to engage existing supporters and attract new supporters, including use of Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
- Serve as liaison to the Development and UpSpring Benefit Bash Committees.
- Support the Board’s fundraising activities and participates in Board meetings to report on Development activities and requests.
- Perform general fundraising duties.
- Manage Development interns and volunteers, as needed.
- Lead and manage media requests, including news coverage pieces, press releases, and articles.
- Provide operational support as assigned.
Ideal Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree: Required; Master’s degree and/or CFRE preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in development, including grant research/writing, annual funds, donor engagement and cultivation, and/or event planning.
- Board Experience: Experience working with Board members and major donors.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills.
- Organizational Skills: Superior organizational and planning skills, including the ability to multi-task and complete a varied set of tasks in a timely manner.
- Professionalism: Enthusiasm and professionalism.
- Self-Motivated: Self-motivated and able to work independently and within a small team atmosphere.
- Donor Databases: Demonstrated experience working with donor databases.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, social media platforms, website management (square space preferred), and other computer software and applications related to duties.
- Design Work: Experience with light design work and ability to collaborate with volunteer graphic designers.
- Location: Resides within the Greater Cincinnati area.

Salary Range
$60,000 to $70,000
