Job Description

Position Overview

The County of San Diego invites your interest in an excellent entry level professional opportunity for an ASSISTANT ENGINEER. Interviews will take place on an ongoing basis. This position offers career development and growth opportunities within the Department of Public Works and Planning & Development Services. Location: County Operations Center in Kearney Mesa.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct design reviews, technical studies, and evaluations of construction documents for public and private infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with divisions in DPW and PDS to ensure compliance with engineering standards, ordinances, and laws.
  • Manage and review complex projects involving multiple functional groups and coordinate with various stakeholders.
  • Maintain effective communication and teamwork to drive project success.

Required Qualifications

  • A current state issued Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) certificate with one (1) year of experience in civil or structural engineering; OR
  • A bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited U.S. college or university (or certified foreign studies equivalency with ABET-approved coursework). Please attach your official transcript or equivalent documentation.

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with proven civil engineering experience.
