Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail‑driven Senior Portfolio Accountant in Seattle, WA to oversee accounting and reporting for a dynamic portfolio of real estate properties. This hybrid role operates from our Downtown Seattle office, offering easy access to public transportation. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure financial data integrity across individual properties and consolidated reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee accurate and timely accounting and reporting for a diverse portfolio of real estate properties.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations, monitor daily cash activity, and prepare monthly cash flow forecasts.
- Post tenant charges, record cash receipts, manage late fees and adjustments for revenue recognition.
- Process vendor invoices, prepare wire requests, reconcile general ledgers, and manage period closings including journal entries.
- Prepare property analytics and asset management reports, and support financial statement audits and tax returns.
- Coordinate monitoring of loan documents, including debt service and escrow funding, and drive the loan draw process.
- Mentor new hires and associate accountants while actively contributing to process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Real estate accounting background with extensive experience in property accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong technical accounting skills, including proficiency in U.S. GAAP and advanced knowledge of Excel, MS Office, and Outlook.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience in preparing financial statements, reconciling general ledgers, and implementing process improvements.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA certification is a plus.
- Experience with real estate software such as Yardi Voyager, Kardin, and MRI.
- Additional experience in commercial real estate accounting environments.
