Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Manufacturing Quality Engineer to join our innovative team. The Quality Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring that products and processes meet stringent quality standards and regulatory requirements, particularly within regulated industries within the aerospace and defense industries. Collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional teams is essential to ensure that quality expectations are clearly communicated and met throughout the supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Build and review inspection reports to ensure conformance to all drawing, specification, and regulatory requirements, as well as completeness of inspections
- Perform accurate contract reviews of all customer purchase orders. Communicate any discrepancies and resolve with engineering.
- Review outgoing shipments for document completeness and document and product quality; work with Shipping and Engineering as needed to resolve shipment roadblocks.
- Perform dimensional and visual inspection of parts at the surface plate using appropriate measurement devices for purchased, in-process, and finished product to ensure satisfaction of quality standards, as well as industry codes and standards, as required.
- Create Balloon Drawings of inspection reports for customer shipments.
- Create and process FAIR Data packages to ensure compliance with specifications and customer standards.
- Identify and label all quality defects and generate nonconformance reports for products which do not meet the applicable requirements as required. Work with all personnel to resolve effectively and efficiently.
- Perform part marking and supporting tasks to the quality department to complete all tasks on a timely basis.
- Be able to understand/interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing processes while utilizing industry best-practices to select appropriate measuring equipment and methods for inspections.
- Use GOM ATOS III Triple Scan blue light scanner, GOM CORE blue light scanner, and TRITOP photogrammetry systems for manual/automated optical inspections of purchased, in-process, and finished product as needed.
- Maintain and generate internal/external calibration of gages to meet required specifications.
- Collaborate with suppliers to establish and maintain quality standards and resolve supplier-related quality concerns.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field preferred
- In Lieu of a BS, 5+ years of proven experience in quality engineering within a regulated industry, preferably Aerospace and Defense
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong PC skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word & Outlook)
- Must be self-directed and able to deliver under pressure, meeting customer and management deadlines
- Must be a highly motivated self-starter comfortable operating independently and with a team
- Strong knowledge and practical application of AS9100:D and NADCAP quality management systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in GD&T, inspection measures, and root cause analysis methodologies.
- Experience with Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) and supplier quality management.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and present findings clearly.
