Position Overview

We are searching for a Manufacturing Engineer to support a low‐volume, high‐complexity production environment spanning vehicle integration and electronic, photronic, electromechanical, and wire harness products. This role requires a self-motivated individual who can work in a multidisciplinary environment alongside mechanical, electrical, optical, embedded software, and firmware engineering teams. The role is on-site in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with standard workdays from Monday through Friday and occasional weekend work when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Quickly come-up-to speed on new technologies and engineering challenges
- Conduct multidisciplinary rapid problem-solving and propose solutions to both prototype and production manufacturing challenges (including Design for Excellence methods like DfM, DfA, DfC/DfP, DfI/T, DfS/R/M)
- Create manufacturing models (parts, assemblies) and drawings to support process design and development
- Develop shop drawings to clarify design intent; document and annotate tooling
- Establish and maintain work instructions, standard operating procedures, forms, records, checklists, process sequence/routing, Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), PFMEAs, and other documentation
- Prepare detailed layouts of buildings, workcenters, and equipment
- Collaborate with Program Managers on developing and executing APQP-compliant program plans
- Guide the manufacturing team through the APQP process including production trials, Run @ Rate, PPAPs, and control plans
- Lead or participate in Kaizen activities to drive continuous improvement in processes, products, and equipment
- Clearly communicate both verbally and in writing
- Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products by establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating results
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; OR Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience; OR 15 years of prior relevant experience in lieu of a degree
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with IATF 16949:2016 Automotive Quality Management Systems or similar (e.g., AS9100D:2016; ISO 13485:2016; ISO 9001:2015)
- Green Belt certification or demonstrated experience using Lean / Six Sigma tools and methodologies (e.g., DMAIC, 8D, PDCA, QRQC, 4A)
- Knowledge of and experience with AIAG's Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) approach
- Experience with advanced CAD and PLM suites
- Proficiency in interpreting and creating technical drawings, datasheets, schematics, and system specifications
- Experience in developing and extracting requirements, leading root cause corrective action investigations, and creating training materials
- Basic electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge, including circuit analysis and tolerance stack-ups

- Compensation: Base salary range of $115,000 - $184,000 per year; final base pay determined by job-related skills, experience, qualifications, education/training, and market conditions
