Job Description

Position Overview

Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking a Junior Computer Network Architect who will provide network and IT design support at San Antonio – Lackland Airforce Base, Texas. This position is contingent upon contract funding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and designing data communication networks
  • Presenting network plans to management staff
  • Providing network and IT design support, including security, documentation, and day-to-day technical assistance
  • Collaborating with management to determine networking needs
  • Overseeing network implementation processes, including scheduling and budgeting
  • Managing information and network security
  • Implementing hardware and software upgrades as needed
  • Performing maintenance and repairs on network equipment
  • Documenting networks with drawings, descriptions, and configurations
  • Researching network technologies and staying updated on industry advancements
  • Implementing new server and network hardware with corresponding software solutions
  • Ensuring proper functioning and communication of all network systems (servers, firewalls, routers, switches, VPN devices, cabling, wireless routers, etc.)
  • Tracking equipment end-of-life and recommending replacements
  • Formulating comprehensive plans for system upgrades and new implementations
  • Conducting regular inventories of IT equipment and reporting discrepancies
  • Providing assistance and guidance to IT Technicians as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Network Architecture and Design
  • Advanced understanding of networking protocols and procedures
  • Experience with tier 1 network hardware in a production environment
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft OS and server applications (e.g., Exchange) in production environments
  • Extensive experience with hardware/software troubleshooting and analysis
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and set priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills and proven customer support experience
  • Must have TS/SCI security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • IAT Level III Networking certification is preferred
