Position Overview
At Northrop Grumman, our employees work on revolutionary systems that change lives. We are seeking a Missile Systems Requirements & Development Engineer 5 to support our SiAW missile program within our Advanced Weapons team. This is a full-time, on-site role in Northridge, CA. Travel: Yes, 10% of the time. Clearance: Secret. Relocation Assistance: No relocation assistance available.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to system requirements development, management, analysis, and traceability to translate customer requirements and CONOPS into systems requirements, then allocate to lower-level requirements.
- Perform functional analysis and systems trade studies for technical solutions regarding concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance.
- Generate well-defined and executable system and subsystem requirements documents, interface documents, and test and verification documents.
- Develop system architecture & design and test architecture on complex weapon systems in a digital environment to mature technology.
- Support development of technical and cost volumes for proposals, using historical actuals to develop Basis of Estimates (BOEs).
- Coordinate system/subsystem integration, testing, and requirements verification activities with software, hardware, and other functions.
- Help develop systems engineering metrics and track technical performance measurements.
- Coordinate preparation of systems engineering materials during reviews such as System Requirements Review, Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, and others.
- Interface with inter-organizational management and external Customers to communicate technical briefings and program status.
- Support Program Management activities to ensure cost and schedule objectives are met, including Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tracking and Control Account Management (CAM).
- Support the management of critical subcontractors developing and testing tactical missile technologies to deliver quality products.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of twelve (12) years of systems engineering experience; or a Master of Science with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience, with exposure to requirements development and verification activities.
- Experience in hardware engineering, software engineering, and/or test engineering.
- Familiarity with systems engineering tools such as DOORS and CAMEO.
- Proficiency in technical writing including planning documents, test procedures, and test/analysis reports.
- Experience in configuration management and product lifecycle management tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a methodical and detail-oriented approach.
- Proven experience in providing solutions to a variety of technical challenges under general supervision.
- Current US Government Secret security clearance, adjudicated within the past 5 years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in multiple missile technologies (e.g., sensors, navigation aids, guidance electronics, controls, propulsion, structures, platforms).
- Technical knowledge in one or more military mission areas (e.g., Air, Land, Sea, Space, Cyber).
- Experience in assessing legacy system architectures and innovating for future technology development.

- Primary Level Salary Range: $177,000.00 - $265,600.00
