Position Overview
Working at Target means helping all families discover the joy of everyday life. Target’s Global UX team is made up of design, content, research, and accessibility experts dedicated to enhancing digital experiences. As a Senior Content Designer within the guest experience UX team, you will play a critical role by shaping flagship digital touchpoints (such as Drive Up, Order Pickup, cart/checkout, and more) across web, mobile web, and native apps. You will collaborate with product designers, product managers, researchers, and developers to craft content that is clear, engaging, and impactful.
Compensation: $87,000.00 - $156,000.00. In addition to competitive pay, you’ll work in a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day model at Target’s HQ MN location and virtually based on daily needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Write content and develop recommendations for guest-facing experiences, synthesizing Target's tone, guest needs, business requirements, and UX principles.
- Track end-to-end communication flows and proactively engage with partners to ensure consistency and cohesion.
- Collaborate with designers, product owners, researchers, accessibility consultants, data analysts, software engineers, and fellow content designers.
- Advocate for guest communication needs and priorities.
- Conduct user experience research with guidance from the UX research team, helping to identify broader research needs.
- Leverage business data and guest insights to inform content, and actively participate in critiques, workshops, and skill-development sessions.
- Foster a culture of belonging, accessibility, and authenticity for all Target guests.
- Contribute to a human-centered practice within UX, product, and engineering teams.
- Navigate complexity and ambiguity to deliver measurable impact for guests and the business.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of content design and/or UX writing experience.
- A portfolio that showcases your passion for language and commitment to UX principles.
- Ability to present and defend the strategy and decisions behind your work.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and experience working in ambiguous environments.
- Openness to receiving feedback and adjusting your approach as needed.
- Interest in exploring the intersection of language and design in user experience.
- Commitment to creating design that is welcoming, inspiring, and clear.
- Understanding of how design connects to and improves business outcomes.
- Proficiency in product design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma).
- A growth mindset and willingness to learn.
