Job Description

Position Overview

GMB is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our project teams. Our ideal candidate is a humble, confident engineer with a passion for educational design and at least fifteen (15) years of relevant experience. The role provides expertise and leadership in the technical aspects of mechanical project design, including code compliance, specifications, system integration, and constructability. At GMB you will contribute to building strong communities by working on projects ranging from Pre-K through Higher Education and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in project team meetings and attend construction meetings with the client and project manager.
  • Build collaborative professional working relationships with various disciplines.
  • Prepare building models, construction documents, load analysis, equipment sizing, ductwork sizing, hydronic system design, and specifications.
  • Develop expertise in a wide variety of complex and high-efficiency mechanical systems.
  • Communicate regularly with Project Manager(s) and team members regarding any changes to project design, scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Create and maintain a positive relationship of trust with clients regarding your area of expertise.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in mechanical system design.
  • Experience coordinating work with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Demonstrated understanding of construction drawings and specifications, mechanical standards, regulations, and building codes.
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must have current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed professional engineer (PE) preferred.
  • Skill in the use of Autodesk Revit to produce mechanical design documents.
  • Comfort with communicating professionally with internal and external customers at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated passion for the field of mechanical and architectural engineering consulting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
