Position Overview

As part of the Infrastructure Services Leadership Team, the Senior Director of Hosting and Cloud Services will create and implement the strategic roadmap for hosting and cloud technologies. This role is responsible for delivering and operating large-scale data centers, cloud platforms, and physical infrastructure, ensuring high efficiency and regulatory compliance. The leader will drive company-wide strategic initiatives, transform hosting and cloud operations, and manage a team of senior leaders to optimize technology solutions for Abbott.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and define the vision, strategy, framework, and roadmaps for global Hosting and Cloud Services
- Develop service catalogs, standards, and architectures for next-generation platforms and services
- Understand industry best practices and challenge the status quo to support continuous improvement
- Establish IT Infrastructure Services continuity strategy to support Disaster Recovery programs
- Define KPI’s to measure team performance and deliverables
- Drive operationalization of hosting and cloud strategies with governance, architectural, security, workload placement, and prioritization
- Drive digital transformation, automation, and sustainability across hosting and cloud platforms
- Manage quality and audits related to the infrastructure, including AQR audits
- Manage a high-performance team and service providers to deliver integrated global services
- Identify and implement industry-aligned “metrics that matter” to continuously improve service levels and reporting
- Engage the Senior IT Leadership Team to collaborate on strategic projects and ensure operational alignment
- Lead and coordinate large enterprise strategic initiatives requiring cross-functional collaboration
- Stay abreast of the latest technology trends and develop business cases for future adoption
- Develop functional goals and objectives for the team
- Create, track, and manage annual operating, capital, and project budgets
- Develop a culture of risk-taking and innovation that embraces change
- Influence direct reports, clients, service providers, and peers to successfully deliver on business commitments
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in Information Technology
- 10+ years of experience managing globally diverse support teams in a large enterprise
- Extensive experience and strong knowledge of technology and industry trends
- In-depth knowledge of core infrastructure including networking, hosting (servers, storage, and backup), cloud services, and virtualization technologies
- Experience leading multi-year cloud transformation programs for large-scale organizations
- Experience in Microsoft, Cisco, Azure, and AWS technologies
- Knowledge of key cloud infrastructure services (AWS, Azure, GCP, and Oracle Cloud) including IaaS, VMs, DB PaaS, App Services, AI, and container management
- Extensive experience working with IT vendors, suppliers, and managed services providers
- Strong skills in presentation, communication, negotiation, influence, and collaboration
- Ability to effectively communicate technical and business issues across multiple levels
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Advanced skills in managing technical teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or equivalent work experience; Master’s degree preferred
Benefits & Perks
- Compensation: Base pay for this position is $190,000.00 – $380,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary.
