Responsible for performing structural repairs, modifications, and installations on aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations and company procedures. This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints, using hand and power tools, and working with a variety of sheet metal materials to ensure the aircraft is restored to airworthy condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, modify, and fabricate sheet metal structures to support avionics system installations (e.g., antenna mounts, avionics racks, brackets, and cable runs).
- Perform layout, drilling, riveting, and fitting of aircraft sheet metal components according to blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
- Modify aircraft structural areas for the integration of avionics wiring and hardware, including mounting panels, conduits, and support frames.
- Ensure structural work complies with FAA regulations, OEM standards, and company procedures.
- Work closely with avionics technicians, engineers, and quality control teams to ensure seamless integration and proper function of installed systems.
- Perform inspections, document work performed and sign off work orders in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and aviation-specific sheet metal tools (e.g., rivet guns, shears, brakes).
- Support aircraft maintenance, upgrades, and return-to-service timelines in a fast-paced MRO environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 2-5 years in aircraft sheet metal modification.
- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Excellent communication skills with proficiency in English.
- Basic math skills and the ability to interpret technical instructions and diagrams.
- Basic computer aptitude preferred.
- Physical capability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform lifting as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Cessna models from 152 to 300 series aircraft.
- A&P License is desired.
