Job Description
Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Director of Imaging/ Scheduling, and the direct supervision of the Central Scheduling Coordinator, the Central Scheduler is responsible for the scheduling of inpatient and outpatient procedures as a part of the pre-registration process.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtains all appropriate information required for the scheduling of procedures for inpatients and outpatients for pre-registration.
- Communicates any actual or potential problems regarding scheduling arrangements with the Central Scheduling Coordinator.
- Applies knowledge of scheduling procedures to ensure maximum utilization of available resources.
- Applies knowledge of medical terminology utilized in the preparation of schedules.
- Utilizes clerical skills efficiently in fulfilling position responsibilities.
- Proficient in utilization of computer systems to accomplish position responsibilities.
- Transcribes information from one source to another with a high degree of accuracy.
- Proficient in collecting and retrieving material from medical records and other information sources.
- Demonstrates professional and technical knowledge related to scheduling procedures, appropriate levels of care, treatment modalities, and levels of services within the facility.
- Applies clinical knowledge and skills in assessment activities.
- Demonstrates ability to collect, aggregate, and analyze data using manual and computer applications.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate / GED
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in case management or related areas focusing on screening for appropriateness preferred
