As the Materials & Process (M&P) Engineer – Polymers, you will work on the Advanced Material team on site at Middle River. You will support composite development tasks – from new polymer material formulation, test plan creation and early supplier development to panel/part fabrication, testing, and production introduction. You are expected to work with limited supervision, manage multiple projects within time constraints, and promptly communicate any project obstacles.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the research and development of next generation composite materials, processes, and equipment for aerostructure applications.
- Apply materials science and engineering knowledge to develop, characterize, and test new materials and material systems.
- Drive the development of novel polymer systems and chemistries from formulation through production introduction.
- Utilize and maintain characterization techniques to develop critical formulation screening tools.
- Support the development of engineering processes, methods, and tools in a research and development environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, effectively integrating efforts within the engineering organization.
- Travel domestically/internationally as needed (up to 20%).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Polymer, Chemical, Materials, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
- Strong understanding of polymer structures, properties, and chemical/mechanical testing techniques (e.g., FTIR, DSC, DMA, Rheology).
- 0-5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Technical proficiency in one or more areas: adhesives, composites, metallics, polymers/elastomers, or high temperature materials.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD software (CATIA, Solidworks, NX, or similar) and materials characterization lab equipment.
- Experience with statistical software such as Minitab, JMP, or similar.
- Proactive communication, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize workloads independently.
- U.S. Person status or appropriate government authorization due to access to export-controlled technology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and MS Office proficiency.
- Experience in aerospace materials processing and testing.
Compensation & Total Rewards
Estimated salary range: $64,400 to $95,800 per year. ST Engineering considers several factors, including key skills, relevant work experience, education, job level, and work location, when extending job offers. Base salary is only one component of our comprehensive Total Rewards package.
