Position Overview
We are searching for Staff Nurses for our NICU Teams Level 2, 3, and 4! This posting is the main NICU posting for our Main Campus. We are looking for someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you'll provide quality nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate care in a manner that incorporates family-centered principles and cost-effective care. You will be responsible for collecting and analyzing data from the medical record in order to coordinate patient care effectively. As a Registered Nurse in the NICU, you will perform and document assessments of the patient and family, including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual, and environmental needs. You will analyze situations, anticipate potential problems, and detect changes in patient status. Identifying each patient's needs pertaining to patient teaching, discharge planning, growth and development, nutritional screening, functional status, and pain management will be crucial. You will develop individualized plans of care based on nursing assessments and re-prioritize as necessary. You will also determine which standards of care and practice apply to the patient and coordinate among other health team members as appropriate. Participation in interdisciplinary rounds and/or patient care conferences is expected, as well as executing therapeutic physician or nurse interventions according to established standards. Evaluating and documenting the patient's response to the care provided and recognizing their progress towards the desired outcome will be part of your responsibilities. You will act as a resource in educating new employees and team members, and participate in achieving hospital/unit goals, structures, and priorities.
Key Responsibilities

- Identify actual/potential barriers to learning and utilize various teaching strategies to overcome them as appropriate
- Maintain confidentiality concerning patient/family issues
- Act as a resource in educating new employees/team members
- Participate in achieving hospital/unit goals, structures, and priorities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or other degree in nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreement
- Current licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact and BLS certification are required
- 1 year of professional nursing experience
- Ability to demonstrate positive and appropriate interpersonal skills
- Good time and resource management skills
- Flexibility and strong oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of unit-specific equipment and the nursing process
- Critical thinking skills, PALS, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Previous NICU or ICU experience highly preferred
