Position Overview
At IBM, work is more than a job. As an Infrastructure Lab Technician Apprentice, you will work with experienced engineers, technicians, and mentors in a hands‐on raised floor environment supporting IBM processors, storage, and other semiconductor hardware. You will learn, perform, and eventually certify on day-to-day activities including hardware installation, removal, cabling, and lab safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply technical knowledge using modern tools to support IBM hardware platforms.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians in a production and development environment.
- Learn and execute day-to-day tasks such as racking, stacking, cabling, and hardware maintenance.
- Follow strict lab safety procedures and complete required certification assessments.
- Manage the lifecycle of hardware components from installation to decommissioning.
Required Qualifications
- Drive and eagerness to learn
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Basic knowledge or experience in electrical engineering sciences (Electrical Safety, Electron Theory, AC/DC Basics, Wires and Cables, Computer Electronics, Electrical Testing Equipment)
- Willingness to complete all apprenticeship program requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience with physical computer hardware installation and team lifting in a fast paced, physically demanding environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or College Diploma
