Position Overview

OPEN UNTIL FILLED with the initial priority review deadline of February 9, 2026. Minneapolis College, a vibrant and inclusive two-year community college in Minnesota, is accepting applications for an unlimited, full-time Welding and Metal Fabrication Instructor position in the Welding and Metal Fabrication (WELD) Department within the School of Trade Technologies beginning Fall 2026. Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota Salary: $43,067 - $71,893 annually Schedule: Work Shift Schedule varies.

The Welding and Metal Fabrication program equips students with the technical knowledge and hands-on skills required for entry-level employment as welders, solderers, and metal fabricators. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide quality teaching in both lecture and laboratory settings to a diverse student population.
  • Develop and revise instructional materials for lecture and laboratory courses.
  • Assess student outcomes at the course, department, and college levels.
  • Establish and maintain collegial and cooperative work relationships with department colleagues, administrators, academic advisors, and support staff.
  • Participate in department meetings, college-wide committees, and other community engagements.
  • Utilize campus technology to remain current in the welding and metal fabrication field and foster communication with students and colleagues.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities and maintain memberships in relevant professional associations.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma in welding.
  • Experience Required: Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in welding, with at least one year within the past five years—or two years of postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field as a waiver.
  • Must meet the Minnesota State credential requirements for Welding Technology/Welder.
  • Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience teaching in a community college or technical school setting.
  • Occupational experience in welding and metal fabrication.
  • Proficient computer skills with educational learning systems and Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience developing and implementing student-centered, active, and experiential learning strategies.
  • Experience incorporating technology into curriculum delivery and assessing student academic achievement.
