Software Engineer 1 - Entry Level

Position Overview

ModMed is transforming healthcare by placing doctors and patients at the center of care through an intelligent, specialty-specific cloud platform. They are seeking a driven Software Engineer 1 to join their product development team, where your main responsibilities include designing, developing, documenting, unit testing, and debugging software systems using Java and related technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Write correct and clean code, following stated best practices and rarely making the same mistake twice.
• Participate in technical design decisions with guidance.
• Focus on attaining expertise in one or more areas of the codebase.
• Develop self-sufficiency in at least one area with a high-level understanding of other components and provide support for unfamiliar components.
• Give timely, helpful feedback to peers and managers, communicate assumptions clearly, and solicit feedback to continuously improve.
• Understand how your work fits into the larger project and identify issues with requirements.
• Prioritize and complete complex tasks with guidance as part of a team, making steady progress but knowing when to ask for help if blocked.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of Java/J2EE development experience.
• Strong Java/J2EE object-oriented design and development skills.
• Solid understanding of Web Standards (XML, Web Services (WS), REST).
• Familiarity with JSP.
• Strong communication skills along with excellent problem-solving abilities; adaptable, proactive, and willing to take ownership.
• Strong commitment to quality, architecture, and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degreepreferred.
• Proficiency with at least one JavaScript framework (AngularJS and/or Angular preferred).
• SQL proficiency (MySQL experienceis preferred).
• Experience with Agile methodologies or related iterative development processes is a plus.
• Demonstrated use and knowledge of design patterns is a plus.
• Track record ofH1B sponsorshipby the company.
