Position Overview
Rancho BioSciences is a leader in biomedical data curation and data science services for pharma and biotech, delivering end‐to‐end solutions from data management to advanced analytics. The VP Intelligent Data Products role is a pivotal leadership position that will transform Rancho from a pure services company into one that also offers innovative products. This role carries full P&L responsibility (including bookings, sales, and gross margin) and demands a strong focus on product development and sales to drive growth in the burgeoning market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy for Intelligent Data and AI-driven Products, developing a robust business case for Board approval.
- Refine the product development approach, including competitive positioning and pricing strategy for pharmaceutical companies.
- Analyze the competitive landscape, target customers, serviceable obtainable market, and determine our likely share.
- Develop product roadmaps that prioritize key functional capabilities, set milestone dates, and outline technical deployment cadences.
- Drive strategy and product development for additional AI solutions by identifying reusable components across existing products.
- Hire and develop key team members to operationalize the business unit.
- Establish partnerships with third-party development firms to support product innovation.
- Coordinate pilot roll-outs with initial customers and continuously refine the product offering.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to support go-to-market initiatives and commercial development efforts.
- Accountability for driving revenue and gross margin to meet the Intelligent Data Products financial plan.
- Provide product leadership and strategic ownership for technical components with cross-product applicability.
- Emphasize strong product development while supporting sales initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of professional experience in pharma services and product development; BS and MS in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated expertise across the drug development continuum (discovery, preclinical, and clinical).
- Strong understanding of R&D productivity drivers such as probability of technical success, cycle time, and cost per phase.
- Proven experience in developing and selling data products and associated services for the pharmaceutical industry.
- Track record in leading business units and teams with accountability for delivering financial targets.
- Experience with the application of AI (including agentic workflows) to discovery, preclinical, and clinical data sets, with a focus on life sciences.
