Our client, a leader in advanced manufacturing and product development, is seeking a highly accomplished Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative team in San Antonio, Texas, US. This senior-level position is integral to the design, development, and testing of complex mechanical systems and components for cutting-edge products. You will lead design efforts from concept through production, ensuring designs meet rigorous performance, cost, and quality targets. Responsibilities include utilizing advanced CAD software for 3D modeling, performing complex structural and thermal analysis using FEA, and selecting appropriate materials and manufacturing processes.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including dynamics, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics. You will be responsible for mentoring junior engineers, providing technical leadership, and driving best practices in design and analysis. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineering, software development, and manufacturing, will be essential to ensure integrated product success. You will also be involved in the development of prototypes, testing procedures, and validation plans, and will contribute to technical documentation and presentations.

Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical design and engineering.
  • Software Proficiency: Extensive experience with SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar CAD software is mandatory.
  • FEA Tools: Proven expertise in ANSYS, COMSOL, or other FEA tools.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC machining, injection molding, additive manufacturing) and materials science.
  • Skills: Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
