Position Overview
University Job Title:Programmer Analyst 1.
The position is part of the Joint Data Analytics Team and provides programming, reporting, and data support for researchers and research initiatives. The analyst is responsible for developing queries, reports, and application programming while ensuring data extractions adhere to compliance policies including HIPAA and Yale policies.

Full time, Regular appointment, 37.5 hours per week, Remote work from Outside of campus (Worksite Address: 221 Whitney Ave, New Haven, CT 06511).Key Responsibilities
- Develop queries, reports, data extracts, and programming to extract data from the medical record data warehouse and Epic system using a variety of tools.
- Communicate with researchers to understand their data requirements, develop extract specifications, and provide accurate, compliant results.
- Collaborate in team meetings, share best practices, and contribute proactively to process improvements.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation and track project status in departmental systems while adhering to data compliance policies.
- Troubleshoot issues related to data and software, perform coding, debugging, unit testing tasks, and apply emerging technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and one year of programming experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate customer requirements into actionable tasks.
- Robust IT systems skill set including experience with SQL and data programming/reporting tools such as SAP-Webi, Tableau, Python, and R; ability to achieve Epic certifications.
- Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Understanding of federal regulations and university policies related to clinical research and data compliance with excellent communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with Epic certification and a minimum of one year of experience in an analyst or reporting role.
- Experience with reporting tools such as Tableau or PowerBI.
- Familiarity with clinical research, clinical trial design, HIPAA regulations, and IRB requirements is a plus.
