Job Description

Position Overview

Midnight Sun Professional Services is looking to hire a Biological Laboratory Technician in Oklahoma City, OK on a Full Time basis. This role provides technical laboratory support to the Forensic Sciences Section within the Aerospace Medical Research Division (AAM-600) at the FAA’s Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI). The technician will assist chemists and toxicologists in preparing, analyzing, and documenting biological specimens, playing a key role in maintaining laboratory operations, supporting forensic and research studies, and assisting in the laboratory's accreditation and quality assurance processes.

The position involves working onsite with biological materials and chemical reagents, requiring strict adherence to biosafety and chemical hygiene protocols. Compensation will be based on experience, education, skills, and market conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process incoming toxicology specimens (primarily biological specimens including blood, urine, and tissues)
  • Prepare biological samples for toxicological analyses
  • Perform data entry for toxicology batches and cases
  • Generate toxicology reports for review and signature
  • Mail out toxicology reports to appropriate recipients
  • Maintain and organize toxicology case files
  • Scan batch and case paperwork for electronic storage
  • Assist chemists and toxicologists in daily operations and research projects
  • Participate in the Laboratory's accreditation process
  • Prepare toxicology paperwork for FOIAs

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher with coursework in Forensic Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field
  • 3 years of related experience with an Associate's degree; no experience required with a B.S. degree
  • Understanding of biological sample handling and toxicological analysis methods
  • Proficiency in laboratory data entry, documentation, and report generation
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety standards and quality assurance practices with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
