Key Responsibilities

  • Prospect and develop carrier relationships.
  • Negotiate market competitive transportation pricing to support customer shipping requirements.
  • Ensure customer shipments are executed to both CGL’s and the customer’s service level requirements.
  • Collaborate with CGL Sales, Account Management, and Carrier Relations to maximize the profitability of the brokerage operation.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience Required: 2-3 years relevant experience, including a minimum of 6 months – 1 year in a high-volume 3rd party logistics or Truckload Brokerage/Freight Operation environment.
  • Strong PC skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), web-based and Windows-based software, and the ability to quickly learn transportation management software (TMS).
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive approach to work.
  • Ability to think quickly on your feet, overcome challenges and push forward.
  • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills with the capability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and broker truckloads for maximum profit while ensuring necessary service to customers.
  • Experience managing difficult or emotional customer situations and responding promptly to customer needs.
  • Ability to prospect leads through heavy cold calling, build a sustainable pipeline, and manage carrier accounts to drive retention and growth.
  • Demonstrated capability in managing, developing, building, and securing successful shipping and carrier relationships.
  • Proficiency in actively monitoring transportation market conditions with emphasis on trends, events, and factors impacting pricing.
  • Skilled in negotiating and formulating competitive, profitable rates, managing trip assignments, and handling rate confirmations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or transportation preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
