Design Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a Design Engineer on a contract basis. The role involves creating detailed 3D models and assembly drawings using SolidWorks, with a focus on the design and development of complete chassis systems, chassis components, chassis cabs, and various other mechanical parts. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in mechanical design and be highly proficient in 3D solid modeling. The candidate will work closely with the shop floor to verify the fit and function of designs, ensuring that designs are accurately translated into physical components to meet project deadlines. Location: Charlotte, MI. Schedule: 4 day work week - onsite Monday - Thursday, 40 hours a week. Compensation: $37.00 - $46.00/hr.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D models and assembly drawings using SolidWorks.
• Design and develop complete chassis systems, chassis components, chassis cabs, and other mechanical parts.
• Collaborate with the shop floor to verify the fit and function of designs.
• Ensure designs are accurately translated into physical components.
• Meet project deadlines with accurate and on-time designs.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design using SolidWorks 3D.
• Experience working on the shop floor with manufacturing to support troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in mechanical design and 3D solid modeling.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience creating Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Experience with air and hydraulic schematics.
• Experience in heavy truck or transportation chassis design.
• Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) certification.
