Job Description
Position Overview
Teoresi Inc. is an international group with offices in Europe and the United States acting as an engineering partner to customers' product and process development. We are seeking a Powertrain Diagnostic Engineer to support the identification, analysis, and resolution of system-level powertrain issues across combustion, hybrid, and electric vehicle platforms. The role involves diagnostic evaluation, log analysis, and close cooperation with engineering teams to drive effective root cause resolution during development and validation stages. Location: Troy, Michigan. Type of employment: Full-time.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth diagnostic investigations to determine root causes of powertrain anomalies.
- Review and interpret CAN logs, UDS data, diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), and test reports to pinpoint faults.
- Carry out testing activities at both vehicle and bench levels using ETAS INCA and other diagnostic tools.
- Interface with calibration, controls, and validation teams to develop and verify resolution strategies.
- Track and document issues, contributing to structured problem-solving processes (8D, DFSS, A3).
- Validate fixes and monitor system performance after implementation.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with ETAS INCA for logging, measurement, and analysis.
- Proficiency with CAN/LIN protocols and understanding of UDS, DTC, and DID data.
- Ability to analyze system behavior against expected functional outputs.
- Familiarity with engineering quality tools such as DFSS, A3, and 8D methodologies.
- Background knowledge in ICE, hybrid, and BEV powertrain systems and their control logic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Electrical Engineering (or related field).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in diagnostics, systems testing, or issue triage within the automotive sector.
- Exposure to tools like CANalyzer or Vector CAN tools is advantageous.
- Strong analytical approach, attention to detail, and ability to work across cross-functional teams.
