Job Description

Position Overview

At Hayward Distributing, a family-owned and growing 2-step distributor serving the agricultural, outdoor power, construction, forestry, and small engine markets, you will join as an Inventory Planner/Buyer. This on‐site role (Columbus, OH Metro area required) is pivotal in transforming ERP data into actionable demand forecasts and purchase orders across multiple warehouse locations, ensuring optimal inventory levels and driving process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Extract ERP data into MS Excel to analyze historical sales, seasonal trends, and product lifecycle information to generate accurate demand forecasts.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to meet customer demand while minimizing overstock and stock outs.
  • Convert approved forecasts into timely and accurate purchase orders within the ERP system.
  • Collaborate with product line specialists and vendors to align purchasing activities with business objectives.
  • Track forecast accuracy and continuously refine planning processes based on performance data.
  • Identify supply risks and coordinate with internal teams to proactively resolve inventory issues.
  • Manage item master data and planning parameters such as lead times, reorder points, and safety stock levels.

Required Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in inventory planning, demand forecasting, or purchasing, preferably in distribution or seasonal industries.
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel with the ability to build advanced purchasing models.
  • Strong data analysis skills with a proven ability to translate trends into actionable plans.
  • Open to feedback with a growth mindset and ability to incorporate constructive input.
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Professionalism to engage with multinational entities while thriving in a small business culture.
