Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking an Engineer to join our Site Group. In this dynamic role based in Columbus, Ohio, you will work alongside a Project Manager and other team members supporting the design of various Civil and Site Development projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility, quick thinking and outstanding problem-solving skills while generating and reviewing site design layouts; utilizing design manuals, standard drawings, and engineering expertise; and ensuring compliance with state, county, and local municipal codes. You will also collaborate with specialists in structures, hydraulics, and geotechnical engineering to produce high-quality transportation plans. This role involves independent work as well as team coordination to prepare site and civil construction documents, and learn the process for obtaining permits for commercial and residential developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager and team members to design and review site layouts and civil plans.
  • Utilize design manuals, standard drawings, and AutoCAD to prepare detailed civil plans including grading, drainage, and hydraulic analyses.
  • Coordinate the preparation of construction documents and ensure adherence to state, county, and local codes.
  • Engage with transportation disciplines such as structures, hydraulics, and geotechnical engineering for comprehensive project solutions.
  • Learn and assist in the permit acquisition process for both commercial and residential projects.

Required Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of work experience in civil engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering.
  • E.I. Certificate or the ability to obtain one.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft’s Office software.
  • Strong ability to follow instructions, manage multiple project tasks, and work well within a team.
  • Availability to work overtime when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Previous exposure to site design and civil construction planning.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
