Job Description

Position Overview

Alterra Mountain Company is a family of iconic year-round mountain destinations including the world’s largest heli-skiing operation and the premier Ikon Pass. We are seeking a dynamic HR professional to join as a Sr. HRBP who will serve as a strategic liaison between HR and the business, mentoring HRBPs and driving HR strategies to foster a high-performance culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify the most pressing talent opportunities and challenges and reflect workforce implications in the business plan.
  • Manage a team of Sr. HR Generalist and HR Coordinator.
  • Execute existing and new HR solutions and capabilities.
  • Partner on hiring, onboarding, and development to build strong pipelines.
  • Monitor external marketplace trends and recommend internal adjustments.
  • Oversee Employee Relations by providing guidance, interpreting policy, and resolving issues.
  • Develop and execute HR strategies to support organizational changes (strategic, structural, technological, and people-oriented).
  • Manage change by providing clear communication, leadership alignment, and employee involvement.
  • Ensure smooth onboarding of new hires and effective offboarding of departing employees.
  • Focus on employee retention through strategic compensation, benefits, and growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Compensation team to ensure fair and competitive pay structures.
  • Identify and develop high-potential employees to prepare future leaders.
  • Assist managers in implementing performance management systems with regular feedback.
  • Maintain transparency and open communication to build trust and minimize uncertainty.
  • Steward the organization’s HR policies and procedures through feedback, audits, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to leaders, coaching them through changes and complex challenges.
  • Enable cross-functional collaboration within HR and across the organization.
  • Challenge assumptions and provide alternative ideas by listening to business challenges.
  • Reprioritize actions for immediate implementation of ad-hoc topics or assignments.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional/lived experience engaging with a diverse range of audiences and emerging markets, including underrepresented communities.
  • 8+ years in progressive HR roles with geographically distributed employee populations.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting commercial functions (sales, marketing, business development, etc.).
  • Deep knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and organizational behavior.
  • Proven experience facilitating workforce planning processes.
  • Solid background in talent management processes, including talent reviews and succession planning.
  • Strong ability to influence, build relationships, and communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience managing complex employee relations issues and driving change.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth, or matrixed environment is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent HR certification.
  • Experience working in the Finance or Insurance industry.
  • Familiarity with Workday and proficiency in Microsoft products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.).

  • Compensation: Denver area base salary range of $127,000 - $184,000 per year. Note that actual salaries may vary based on experience, education, and other factors.
